Sam Chu

Advisor

Dr. Chu is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has obtained 2 PhDs in Education – one focusing on e-Learning from University College London, Institute of Education and another one focusing on Information and Library Science from HKU. His areas of expertise include AI literacy, gamified learning, 21st Century Skills, and digital/information literacies. He has been involved in over 60 research projects with a total funding of US$ 9,375,918. Dr Chu has  published more than 400 articles and books, with over 100 of them appearing in international academic journals. Furthermore, he is the Co-Founder and Co-Editor for the journal Information and Learning Sciences. Dr. Chu was ranked within the top 2% of scholars in Information & Library Sciences out of 10,391 scientists worldwide and also among the top 2% of scholars in Education out of 58,000 education researchers worldwide and one of the top 200,000 scientists in the world (PLoS Biol 18(10), 2020). He has numerous experiences in organizing academic conferences. As early as in 2009, Dr. Chu served as the Conference Co-Chair (Academic) for the International Conference on Knowledge Management in Hong Kong and it attracted over 300 participants from over 20 countries.
